explo shipOn May 12-13, 2021, the 11th edition of the International Scientific and Technical Conference EXPLO-SHIP was held at the Maritime University of Szczecin.

The conference was organized by three faculties: the Faculty of Computer Science and Telecommunications, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering.

The conference was held under the patronage of: Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin, prof. Wojciech Ślączka, the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Scientific and Technical Society.

The conference was attended, among others, by Chairman of the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, prof. Wojciech Wawrzyński and members of the Committee, representative of the Geodesy Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, chairman of the Education Committee and at the same time the Vice-Rector for Innovation and Development of AMS - prof. Janusz Uriasz, Director of the Maritime Office in Szczecin - Mr. Wojciech Zdanowicz with deputies, Director of the Inland Navigation Office Mr. Piotr Durajczyk, Director of the Training Center in Iława - Mr. Jacek Nowicki.

The conference was honoured by the presence of the deans of the befriended faculties of maritime universities: Dean of the Faculty of Navigation of the Gdynia Maritime University, prof. Tomasz Neumann and the Dean of the Faculty of Navigation and Ship Weapons of the Naval Academy in Gdynia, prof. Waldemar Mironiuk. The conference was also attended by the deans of all five faculties of the Maritime University of Szczecin: the Faculty of Computer Science and Telecommunications, the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Navigation and the Faculty of Engineering and Economics of Transport,

The conference was attended by scientists from cooperating universities (in alphabetical order):

  • Gdansk University of Technology,

  • Poznan University of Technology,

  • Warsaw University of Technology,

  • Gdynia Maritime University,

  • University of Szczecin,

  • University of Technology in Katowice

  • and the Ship Handling Research and Training Centre in Ilawa.

 

The conference was also attended by numerous employees of our University.

The conference was held remotely.

71 participants took part in the conference. 37 papers were delivered: 3 at the plenary session and 34 at thematic sessions held simultaneously in two virtual rooms.

The topics of the papers focused on transport, in particular the autonomy of means of transport. The issues of transport safety, reliability and quality of power supply for transport means, transport telematics and the use of geoinformatics in transport were presented. The topics of the papers were also focused on diagnostics of marine engines and reduction of energy consumption on ships.

The conference allowed for the presentation of research results and the exchange of experiences between scientists. Importantly, it created an opportunity to present its achievements to young scientists in the period of a pandemic, when there are no stationary conferences and remote conferences are organized sporadically.
