avthe autonomous future of road transport

On the 7th of June 2021, the AV-POLAND 2021 conference was held. It was the largest event related to autonomous vehicles in Poland this year. The event was organized in a hybrid formula, it was a combination of a traditional meeting in the conference room with an online meeting. A professional studio made it possible to present the event in the highest quality of image and sound. The beginning of the conference was preceded by a statement of the Minister of Infrastructure - Andrzej Adamczyk. During the event the Competence Centre for Autonomous and Connected Vehicles in Motor Transport Institute has officially begun its activity. The participants of the event took part in two sessions promoting the results of the AV-PL-ROAD project - realized by a consortium consisting of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Warsaw University of Technology and the Motor Transport Institute - and an international session about projects financed under the EU Horizon 2020 program. The AV-PL-ROAD session presented the results of research conducted by the Motor Transport Institute on emergency braking systems and adaptive cruise control on the test track. In addition, conclusions for Poland were presented on the basis of the analysis of the implementation rules for road transport automation in the world. The last element of the session was the presentation of the CAD Green Book, containing a comprehensive diagnosis of road transport issues prepared by scientists from Faculty of Transport of Warsaw University of Technology.

Additionally, the participants took part in the Visegrad Group session and in a discussion during an expert panel about technological changes in transport and related challenges. Thanks to the large group of invited speakers, including representatives of universities, public administration, and employees of research institutions from many different countries, it was possible to collect an extremely wide audience. The event was broadcast via YouTube and Facebook, the most important information was provided by the AV-POLAND Twitter. Moreover, the entire conference was simultaneously translated into Polish and English. To date, the conference has been watched by over 1300 people on various stream channels. The conference was also widely disseminated in the local, professional, and national media. The AV-POLAND conference is not a single event, it is a series of conferences promoting and building awareness of one of the industrial trends that affect us all - road transport automation. We invite you to the next edition, which will take place next year.
